Matt grew up in Boone before leaving the area to attend college at the University of Notre Dame and law school at Duke University. After law school, Matt worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, before returning to North Carolina to work at the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office. Matt eventually convinced his wife and family to return to his hometown of Boone to work in the Distirict Attorney's Office in Watauga and Avery Counties. Britt graduated form the University of Oregon School of Law in 2003. She began her legal career with the District Attorneys office and served for 11 years including time spent as Chief Prosecutor for the 24th District Attorney?s office, prosecuting homicide cases in Watauga, Avery, Mitchell, Yancey, and Madison Counties.
