He was elected to the UT Board of Advocates and the Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity, was a founder of the Law & Technology Society, an American Jurisprudence Award recipient, and clerked with top corporate law firms in Houston, Dallas/Ft Worth, and Phoenix.

    Before that, Mr. Lohbeck earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Structural Engineering from New Mexico State University in 1984. He was elected to the Blue Key National Honor Society for academic excellence, the Chi Epsilon Engineering Honor Society, and was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He was a General Electric Foundation Scholar and a National Civil Engineering Scholar.
    Activities: Mr. Lohbeck worked in the aerospace industry for General Dynamics Corporation (Convair and Space Systems Division) in San Diego, and for the United States Defense Department. Among other high-tech engineering projects, Mr. Lohbeck was involved in the design of the controlled nuclear magnetic fusion apparatus known as the Mirror Fusion Test Facility (MFTF), a predecessor to the National Ignition Facility (NIF), at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in San Francisco, high-energy laser weaponry, and classified operational facilities at military bases in the United States and Germany.
