While attending Kent, Michelle focused her studies on family law, taxation and estate planning. At this time, Michelle served as a research assistant for Professor Jonathan Decatorsmith. In addition, Michelle had the privilege of completing a judicial externship for the Hon. Raul Vega in the post-decree domestic relations division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. As a judicial extern, Michelle gained rare insight into judicial decision-making and courtroom strategy. Practicing for two years as a 711 student attorney in Chicago-Kent?s family law and low-income taxpayer clinics, Michelle gained vast and invaluable legal experience. In doing so, Michelle found her true passion for helping families in need. Following graduation, Michelle successfully completed a post-juris doctorate program earning a certificate in advanced legal studies with an emphasis in family law and estate planning.
