Mark P. Bryant has practiced in his hometown of Paducah, Kentucky since graduating from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1973. Mr. Bryant is a product of the Paducah, Kentucky city schools, Paducah Community College, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Kentucky College of Law.Mark Bryant is a past president of the Kentucky Commonwealth's Attorneys Association; an Eagle Scout; on the board of the Four Rivers Counsel, Boy Scouts of America, and; in 1986 was selected to receive the Outstanding Commonwealth's Attorney in Kentucky award, the highest honor bestowed by the Kentucky Commonwealth's Attorneys Association.In 1989, he was selected by the Jackson Purchase Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police, as citizen of the year and was awarded by the Paducah/ McCracken County Child Watch for outstanding service to the children of Paducah and McCracken County.Mark P. Bryant served as First Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in McCracken County from 1974 until 1977 and was elected three times as Commonwealthâs Attorney, serving from 1977 until 1990. During that time, he was appointed by the Attorney General of Kentucky as Special Assistant Attorney General of Kentucky. As a prosecutor, Mr. Bryantâs areas of special interest were homicide, sex crimes, illegal drugs and crimes against children.Mr. Bryant was appointed to the Kentucky Law Enforcement Counsel and the Kentucky Crime Commission by Governor Julian M. Carroll; to the Governor's Task Force on Crime by Governor John Y. Brown; the Kentucky Jail Standards Commission by Governor Brown; and the Kentucky Child Abuse Prevention Board by Governor Martha Layne Collins. The Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court, Hon. Robert F. Stephens, appointed Mr. Bryant to the Supreme Court of Kentucky Criminal Rules Committee where he served with Hon. Frank Haddad and Hon.
