I was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. Upon graduation from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, I entered the US Army as an Infantry Officer. I graduated from Airborne School and Ranger School and led a light infantry rifle platoon around the world for three years. I obtained my law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1993. I have practiced in the areas of workers' compensation, family law, social security criminal defense and civil litigation throughout my career. I gained a lot of experience as a Clerk for a Circuit Court Judge where I saw the inner workings of the Court system.
