I have been practicing immigration law since 2012. My legal practice is focused on helping immigrants obtain legal status in the United States and defending those who face removal (deportation). Most of my current caseload involves the representation of individuals in removal/deportation proceedings. I represent many clients that have been living in the United States for the majority of their life but have been convicted of, or are currently facing criminal charges. My clients find themselves in immigration court for criminal charges ranging from minor traffic infractions to serious federal felonies involving drug trafficking, money laundering, and even attempted murder. However, many of my clients have no criminal records and are facing immigration issues based solely on the location of their birth. I am extremely passionate about my work because I believe our Government should treat all people equally regardless of where they were born and that our laws should not be construed or enforced to result in the senseless separation or destruction of immigrant families. I was born and raised in New York City, a city built by immigrants, and one that proudly displays the 305 foot-tall Statue of Liberty welcoming immigrants in our harbor. So I fight hard for my clients in the hope that they may have an opportunity to pursue the same American dream through which so many earlier immigrants have prospered. Much of the immigration work I do is at the appellate level doing agency appeals and Federal Court appeals. I volunteer with the Safe Passage Project, providing legal assistance to unaccompanied minors.
